What are uPVC Bifold Windows?
Bifold windows, sometimes called folding windows, have a series of hinged panels that concertina to one side when you open them. The whole width of the opening becomes usable space, which is something a casement or sliding window simply can’t match.
What makes ours different is the frame. Most bifold windows in Sydney use aluminium, and aluminium conducts heat. That means even with quality double glazing, the frame itself is working against your insulation.
uPVC doesn’t have that problem. It’s a natural insulator, so the frame and glass work together rather than cancelling each other out.

Colours and Glazing Options
The frames come in a solid range of finishes, so there’s usually something that works whether you’re renovating a Federation home or building something more contemporary.
Timber-look options include Turner Oak Malt, Turner Oak Toffee, and Sheffield Oak Concrete. For a modern look, there’s Aludec Anthracite Grey, Jet Black, Basalt Grey, Umbra Grey, Window Grey, and Traffic White. Dual colours (different shades on the inside and outside of the frame) are available on request.
For glazing, you can choose from clear, Low-E, obscure, or acoustic laminate, depending on what matters most for your space.
Bifold Windows or Bifold Doors: Which Do You Need?
It’s a question that comes up a lot. Both look similar and use the same folding mechanism, but they’re built for different situations.
Bifold windows sit above a sill. Think of a kitchen servery that opens out to a deck, or a living room wall that partially opens while keeping the lower section closed. They’re great where you want airflow and connection without a full floor-to-ceiling opening.
uPVC bifold doors run floor-to-ceiling and create a full walk-through opening. Same Integra70 frame, same double glazing, same performance, just a different style.

How Bifold Windows Compare to Other Styles
Bifolds aren’t the answer for every opening, but for wide openings onto outdoor spaces, they’re hard to beat. Here’s a quick sense of where each type fits best:

Are uPVC bifold windows more energy efficient than aluminium ones?
Yes, noticeably so. Aluminium conducts heat at roughly 1,000 times the rate of uPVC, which means an aluminium frame quietly undermines your double glazing. Our uPVC frames don’t. The Integra70 system achieves Uw values as low as 0.79 W/m²K, and because the frame itself insulates rather than conducts, you get the full benefit of the argon gas and glazing you’re paying for.
How many panels can I have?
We do bifold windows in a range of configurations, from two panels up to multiple-panel setups across wider openings. During your free measure and consultation, we’ll work out what makes sense for your space, including which direction the panels stack and whether a fixed panel is needed at either end.
What’s the difference between bifold windows and folding windows?
“Bifold windows” and “folding windows” are used interchangeably to describe the same concertina-style mechanism where panels fold and stack to one side. We use both terms across our range at Integra.
Can I install bifold windows in a bushfire-prone area?
Yes. Our uPVC double-glazed bifold windows carry a BAL40 rating, which covers high-risk bushfire attack level zones. That’s a meaningful advantage; plenty of bifold products on the market haven’t been independently tested to that standard.
How will the frames hold up over time in Sydney?
Well. The uPVC profiles in the Integra70 system are UV stabilised with titanium dioxide, which stops the frames from yellowing or degrading under the sun. They won’t corrode, swell, or rust in coastal conditions the way timber or aluminium can.
